Microbe-host interaction, probiotics, microbial fermentation, enzyme technology, photosynthetic algal biotechnology

Vice-President

Dr Richard J Sugrue

Associate Professor and head of division
Division of Molecular and Cell biology
Nanyang Technological University
60 Nanyang Drive
Singapore 637551

Professional interests:

The biology of RNA viruses, including respiratory syncytial virus, human metapneumovirus, influenza virus and nipah virus. In particular we wish to understand, at the molecular level, the role that host-cell factors play during specific stages of the virus replication cycle, such as virus replication and assembly.

Asst Secretary

Dr Chu Jang Hann, Justin

Assistant Professor

Department of Microbiology,
Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine,
National University Health System,
MD4, 5 Science Drive 2,
National University of Singapore,
Singapore 117597

Professional Interests: Dengue virus, human Enterovirus 71 and Chikungunya viruses are used as the viral models to decipher the interplay of essential host and viral factors required for the replication of these medically important RNA viruses. Knowledge gained from these investigations will facilitate formulation of effective vaccine or therapeutic intervention against these viral infections and possibly other pathogenic positive-strand RNA viruses. Bio-imaging platform technologies are also been developed for imaging of virus-host interactions as well as high content screening.
