• Aim of the conference:
  • It is the aim of this conference to bring together information and technology required in the development of a successful probiotic and prebiotic product from the laboratory to the market place. The conference would serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and knowhow between Asian researchers and companies.
• Day 1: Technical Workshop (1st July 2009):

• Call for papers and scholarships:
  • Extended abstract should not exceed one A4 size page and the deadline for submission is 1st April 2009. Scholarships are available to PhD students and junior researchers who are first authors of their presentations. Refer to attachment for abstract format and further information.

  • Complete and sign the registration form and send it by e-mail or fax no later that 1st February 2009. Once your application is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email.
  • Registration fee before 1st February 2009: SGD$225 (inclusive of scientific program, abstracts, breakfast, lunch, tea, reception, banquets, outings).
  • Registration fee after 1st February 2009: SGD$300.
  • Discount for members of SSMB member: SGD$50.

The XIIth International Congress of Parasitology (ICOPA) will be held in , from 15-20th August 2010 at the new Exhibition and Convention Centre. All are invited to join the parasitology community at this exceptional facility that lies in the heart of Melbourne in close proximity to the scenic Yarra River and the associated parks, multicultural restaurants, cafes and bars.

Parasites have an enormous impact not only in the environment but also on human and animal health. This conference will be an important forum for the dissemination and discussion of new findings in this rapidly expanding field. The theme of the congress is “Understanding the global impact of parasites-from genomes to function and disease” around which we are developing an exciting scientific program that will provide a dynamic platform for the vibrant and fruitful exchange of your new findings, research questions and state-of-the-art techniques. The diversity of themes that will be covered in this conference will encourage positive collaborations and abstracts will be solicited on all topics that span the enormous range of parasitology.

The 2nd International Forum on Pandemic Influenza (IFPI 2010), organized by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and co-organized by Elsevier, will be held on July 24–25, 2010, in Qingdao, China.
 
The world is still under the shadow of the pandemic influenza H1N1 2009 virus. As of January 10, 2010, WHO reports that over 13,000 people have died as a direct result of pandemic influenza H1N1 2009 virus. To address these concerns and share strategic and operational experience in the fight of the pandemic H1N1 2009 virus, and further to give deep insights on the prevention strategy from public health perspective. China CDC, in a joint effort with Elsevier, will host the 2nd International Forum on Pandemic Influenza (IFPI 2010) on July 24~25, 2010, in Qingdao China.

The Second International Symposium on Probiotics and Prebiotics as Functional Foods for Human Health Promotion : Health Benefits, Local Knowledge, Technical and Regulatory issues is aimed to share research progress and experiences among Asian countries, as well as to facilitate in establishing harmonisation of regulatory on Probiotics and Prebiotics among Asian countries.
