The Second International Symposium on Probiotics and Prebiotics as Functional Foods for Human Health Promotion : Health Benefits, Local Knowledge, Technical and Regulatory issues is aimed to share research progress and experiences among Asian countries, as well as to facilitate in establishing harmonisation of regulatory on Probiotics and Prebiotics among Asian countries.

Scientific Program
The program will include a limited number of plenary invited lectures and several parallel oral presentation sessions, to be selected from the abstracts and poster sessions. The scientific areas will cover : 1.Health benefit (decontamination, immunological function, cellular mechanisms, neural function, clinical studies
2.Technical aspects (viability, shelf life; importance of the matrix, microencapsulation, methods of analyses, production, functional foods) 3. Local knowledges (local foods containing probiotics and prebiotics) 4. Regulatory on Probiotics and Prebiotics - USA (FDA regulation) - Europe (QPS, EFSA) - Indonesia : today and tomorrow - India - Clinical trials conditions (criteria for good quality studies, constrains and opportunities) - Safety aspects (microbiological, physiological, immunological) 5.
